To Be a Butterfly

I wrote this last year. It's a little early in the season for it, but it will be here when the Butterflies come again.

To Be a Butterfly

Sweet, innocent, butterflies

Flutter and float amongst themselves

Beautiful, delicate butterflies

In the heat of a hot summer's day

Lazily they float

Excited then they flutter

Reflecting the rays of the sun

On their dark velvet wings

Splattered Polka-Dots

And even-spaced stripes

Only on them do they match

The world around them

Moves in mighty gusts

but the world of a butterfly

Is a breeze- slow and gentle

I want to be more like a butterfly

Without all the stress of the gusts

To be so relaxed would be pleasurable

How nice it would be

If I were

A sweet and innocent butterfly

Fluttering and floating

A beautiful, delicate butterfly

In the heat of a hot summers day.

What am I?

One drop falls.
Plink!
Ripple follows ripple
Reaching to the shore.

Am I the drop of rain,
Or am I the ripple?
Am I a leader,
Or am I a follower?

Is it better to act,
Or better to react?
Do I stand alone,
Or am I in a crowd?

Am I an important person,
Or am I just a number?
Do they care what I think,
Or is it better to stay quiet?

Who am I?
What is my purpose here?
How did it all end up this way?
Why do I feel so confused?
Where is my comforting friend?

Who is that man,
Over there watching me?
Who am I,
that one should care?

Help me friend,
To learn my part.
Help me learn,
The secrets of my heart.

Help me know,
What I should do.
Teach me what,
I yearn to know.

Unless you can help
I will be a stranger
To all I love
and even to myself.

Am I the ripple,
Or am I the rain?
Am I a number,
Or am I a friend?

One drop falls.
Plink!
Ripple follows ripple,
reaching to the shore.

My new blog

This is a bit of an experiment. I am planning on using this as a place to post some of my poems, writing, and short scenes. I don't really know where this will go, but hey it's worth a shot.
